Did You Know?? Fun Facts about the Fourth of July..

Here’s some fun facts you may not know about our Nation’s birthday:

5. Thomas Jefferson died on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. So did John Adams who also signed the Declaration. There are 12 counties nationwide named Adams and 26 named Jefferson.

4. The 4th of July only became a national holiday in 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution.

3. Barbecue is big on Independence Day, with more than 74 million Americans planning one. We eat around 150 million hot dogs and buy around 700 million pounds of chicken.

2. The official vote declaring the independence of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain actually occurred on July 2, 1776.
